ACL
105 Foundations of ACL: Concepts and Practices
3 Days | CPE / CPD Credits: 25
|
Focus and Features |
|
This
three-day course is designed for experience ACL users. In an interactive,
hands-on environment you will learn how to integrate ACL commands and
expressions to accomplish complex data analysis tasks. You will also
practice planning and executing a data analysis project by working
through a series of case studies. Through this case-study approach you
will learn how to effectively use ACL in real-life situations and
discover what it means to think with ACL. |

ACL
201 Data Analysis Techniques: An ACL Workshop
2 Days | CPE / CPD Credits: 16
|
Focus and Features |
|
This
two-day course is designed for experience ACL users.
|
What Will You Learn |
|
This course is divided into four modules, each consisting of a case
study. The modules, which become progressively challenging, take you
through the following data analysis phases:
|
|
• Objective Setting
Identifying the projects objectives in business and technical terms. |
• Data Integrity
Ensuring that the data does not contain corrupt elements and that the
table layout is correctly constructed. Testing for control totals,
bounds, completeness, uniqueness, data relationships, and
reliability.
|
|
• Planning
Determining the steps necessary to achieve objectives. |
• Analysis
Analyzing data to reveal exceptions
|
|
• Acess
Gaining physical and logical access by identifying location and format
of required data. |
• Reporting
Preparing the results for formal presentation. |
ACL 303 Advance ACL
Concepts and Techniques: Functions and Scripts
3 Days | CPE / CPD Credits: 25
|
Focus and Features |
|
In this
three-day course you will learn how to use ACL functions and
scripts to gain new insight into your data and do more in less time.
Functions let you investigate your data in ways you haven’t thought of
before, adding power and detail to your analysis. Scripts let you
automate routine ACL tasks, freeing up time to concentrate on
activities that require critical thinking and judgment. Scripts also
help preserve best practices, which prevents errors, and results in
better controls in your organization.
ACL
Certified trainers will show you how to implement scripts into your
daily routine and they will guide you through activities that illustrate
how to work with scripts and functions efficiently and easily. |
|
Functions
You will learn how to use functions in computed fields and filters to
perform:
▪
Input validation
▪
Data harmonization
▪
Data cleansing
▪
Data type conversion
▪
String-specific or “wildcard” searches
▪
Complex recalculations
▪
Advanced data manipulation |
Scripts
You will learn how to automate ACL processes by creating and running
scripts. You will learn how to:
▪
Create interactive scripts
▪
Edit and run scripts
▪
Create variables
▪
Develop multi-line commands
▪
Add processing efficiency and logic control to a script
▪
Design simple, conditional, and nested groups |
Course Method
This is a live, instructor-led course in a classroom setting. For in-class
activities, participants use the latest version of ACL. The class size
supports individual attention and development.
Who Should Attend
This training is designed for Financial, Operational, External Auditors,
Information System Auditors, Audit Managers; prospective ACL users.
